Healthly-Aged Summer School

The money received from the annual giving fund allowed us to host a 2 day summer school, jointly with the College of Medicine, on the topic of Healthy Ageing. We were able to put on a very full and challenging programme for 100 trainee health professionals covering disciplines from podiatry, to dentistry to nursing and medicine. All students said they found the event extremely valuable and that the topics discussed really changed their attitude towards older adults and especially how old age can be improved if all aspects of health and well-being are maintained in to the third age. One of the best aspects was that due to the funding we received we could also support 8 older adults to attend as small group facilitators, discussing with the delegates their experience of old age covering topics such as retirement, spirituality and sexual health.
